Only one more day till Friday!
Sadly, this rain is trying to thwart my weekend plans, and all I wanted to do was find a nice, cool body of water to swim in. I’ve been trying to swim at least once a week, but the pools around here are feeling more and more like bathwater every day. It’s like swimming laps in your own sweat. -.-
Swimming is one of the most efficient ways I can think of to get cardio in and improve my upper body strength, especially my shoulders and back. I used to say I didn’t want to work on those muscle groups so I didn’t end up looking manly, but I digress. I want to conquer the pullup (dun dun dun–villain music). Soon.
I’ve never been able to do a pullup. My upper body strength is laughable. I was that kid in elementary school who got hoisted to the pull up bar to do the chin hang on the physical fitness test. When I contemplated joining Crossfit and visited my local gym, I was so jealous of all the strong women knocking out double-digit sets. Not very becoming of a self-proclaimed fitness enthusiast, is it?
In the next two months, I’m determined to change that. I’d like to assume that after completing Insanity, I’ll be able to do at least ONE pullup, but after the last few days, I’m not entirely sure. Insanity focuses so much on plyometrics and leg strength, but not so much on upper body strength. Maybe I’ll be able to dunk in 60 days, but that’s not my goal.
So I’m going to implement this pull up plan, inspired by nerdfitness.com. I can already do a few of those reverse pullups, so I’ve modified it a little to suit my needs.

Since Chase goes to Totally Pit Bull training class on Thursdays, I’ll be skipping Insanity today. I’m going to do this pull up routine before I take him to training and I’d like to squeeze in a run after we get back, which hopefully won’t be too late.
On a totally random note, my tripod came in the mail today, so I will be posting my own videos soon!!! I am SO EXCITED!
