10 Best Heart-Healthy Foods

The following foods are heart-healthy because they help prevent heart disease by repairing damage to cells and even preventing future damage. It is common knowledge that vegetables and whole grains are good for the heart but read on for some specific food choices that will help prevent heart disease.
1. Salmon: This tasty fish contains tons of omega-3 fatty acids which are the best thing to feed your heart. Try grilling or steaming salmon for dinner at least once per week.

2. Oatmeal: Calcium, magnesium, and potassium are just a few of the many nutrients that are packed into this delicious breakfast food. Eat oatmeal a few mornings every week for a happy heart.

7. Tuna: Too much tuna can mean high levels of mercury but eating tuna once a week is heart-healthy as it contains the important nutrients like foliate and niacin.

8. Sweet Potato: This yummy vegetable is high in vitamins A, C, and E and it also contains a ton of fibre. It tastes great with a sprinkle of brown sugar, too.

9. Berries: Blueberries in particular are loaded with heart-healthy nutrients such as anthocyanin and foliate. Cranberries, raspberries, and strawberries are great nutrient-rich choices, too.

10. Carrots: This bright orange vegetable is loaded with tons of vitamin A as well as plenty of fibre which is good for the digestive system. Your heart will appreciate you eating plenty of carrots.
