Gainesville Beer Run 5K Recap

Hi there! I’ve been silent for a few days, but I’m getting back on the blogging bandwagon now that I have something exciting to share with you. Unfortunately, someone is trying to stop me. On Friday I ran my first official 5K! Technically, it was my first official 2.6 mile race, but more on that little screw-up later. I woke up at the crack of dawn and ate a bowl of oatmeal to hold me over until lunch in Orlando. Unfortunately, I was running late, so by the time I was done with my interview, it was 2:30. I ate ... Weekend Wrapup: Good Food & Fitness

Do you ever wake up with that confused feeling on Monday morning trying to figure out if it’s still the weekend or if you have to go to work? I definitely did this morning. Fortunately, I had a satisfying, relaxing weekend to hold me over until next Friday. Friday After work, Troy and I did this 550 Killer Reps workout from BodyRock. I love the old BodyRock workouts where they only use body weight and hadn’t started using equipment like sand bags and bars yet. My time was around 28 minutes, but I didn’t do all 50 walkover pushups. I did ... Read More »

1 Week ‘Till 5K!

Happy Friday! By this time next week, I’ll be jittering nervously at my desk, anticipating the 5K ahead of me. I can’t believe that 6 weeks of training have already gone by, and I can now run 2.5 miles straight! With all my heart irregularities, asthma, shin splits, etc., I never though I’d be able to say that, much less do it. So this is a big deal for me. I tried out some ENERGYbits a couple weeks ago to see if they would help me with endurance while running, and the reps were so curious to see how my ... Read More »

5K: Getting There

There are only 17 days left till the Gainesville Beer Run 5K! I was looking at my calendar yesterday, and up until now I thought I’d be able to complete the full Couch to 5K 8-week plan. Then I realized I’d only be starting week 8 the day of the race, so now it’s more important than ever that I don’t miss a day. Yesterday I completed day 3 of week 5. I hadn’t run at all since Thursday, so I thought this would be a tough one. 5 minutes walking warmup 20 minutes (or 2 miles) running 5 minutes ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup

Hey there! I hope you’re having a great weekend so far! I know the weekend’s not over yet, but it’s been pretty eventful so far and there’s a storm rolling in, so no better time than now to get you all caught up. It was absolutely gorgeous out yesterday, so Troy and I decided to hit the gym and the pool. As we were leaving, Troy noticed a frog just chillin’ on our wall. No idea how it got in, but we had to capture it. Troy gently put a plastic container on it and I slid the little fellow ... Read More »

Hit My First 5K Goal Time

amazing abs workout

How funny is it that I spent all day yesterday thinking it was Wednesday? I posted WIAW thinking I was totally ahead of the game, then went for my Tuesday run. Yep. THAT kinda week. Yesterday I hit my goal of running 5K in under 35 minutes! The best part of reaching a goal is setting new ones. The 35-minute time was just my primary goal for my first month of 5K training. I have one more workout left in week 3 of Couch to 5K and my ultimate goal is to run the race in under 30 minutes on ... Read More »

Amazing Arms & Back

How sad are you that the Olympics are over? Those two weeks went by so fast, and thanks to Cox promising “full events” on OnDemand and delivering 3-minute highlights of only the American teams, I missed way too much! The only good thing that came from the Olympics ending was the Spice Girls reunion. It amazes me that after over a decade, I could still sing along with every single word. This weekend was super relaxing and laid back, with lots of catching up on sleep and TV show recordings, and an afternoon of crafts. I ran out of workout ... Read More »
