Dear FitFluential, I totally got my title from you. Or, as we like to say in the blogger community, I was inspired.
In all seriousness, Altamonte Springs is a health and fitness mecca. In my last post, I said there were at least a dozen gyms around here. In reality, it’s probably much more.
Between all the Groupons and Living Socials offering amazing daily deals on any type of exercise you could imagine, from TRX to stand up paddleboarding, and the health food stores and vitamin shops on every corner, it has to be impossible to stay UNhealthy living here. It’s like I’m in Colorado or something.
Seeing all the healthy people running down the trail on my way home from work, I was motivated Monday to get back to my fitness. I started up Insanity again, thinking it would be the same fun workout I’m used to, but apparently I’ve gotten more out of shape than I imagined in these last few weeks. It. Kicked. My. Butt. My calves are still sore from it! I was sweating like I just ran a 5K (or 2.6 miles.)
Still on my newfound health kick, I Yelped up a health food store a few miles away, only to find out later that there’s one even closer to my house. I was so glad to find Hoover’s Market that I went a little crazy browsing.
One thing I miss most about Gainesville is Ward’s, which has an incredible bulk dry goods wall. Fret no more! This store had an almost as impressive one, but their prices were just a bit higher.
I found a bunch of stuff my Foodie Pen Pal sent me last month, and was so excited to see Kind bars on sale. So many flavors!
Half an hour later, I ended up with a lot of random things in my shopping bag, some tried and true and some new.
I was most excited about trying the Kombucha, which so many of my favorite bloggers swear by, and I was even more stoked when I found one that had chlorella and spirulina algae in it, which I’ve recently discovered is pretty much the solution to all my health problems and concerns.
This stuff is for real, too! I had some Wednesday morning and I’m pretty sure it’s solely responsible for me feeling clear-headed, energized, and kind of light and airy at work all day.
On the way home from Hoover’s, I saw another health store near my house and pulled in to grab one more item I forgot. However, the random DJs at the LA Fitness next door grabbed my attention like the influential consumer that I am, and I got sucked in for a tour. Well, we all know a tour is never really a tour, and I somehow got conned into signing up. Darn.
At least the monthly fee and the fact that it’s ridiculously close to my house should be enough motivation to get to the gym more often. In fact, I already went today and I feel great. I had to try every machine I could get my hands on, so I did some random workout mashup of every single muscle group. This location doesn’t even get busy at 5:30 pm, so I can’t ask for more.
Cheers to fitness!
What’s an unusual health food or drink I should try? What’s your favorite equipment at the gym?
Do tell! I’d love to try new ways to stay healthy and fit in my new city!
