Fit and Free Friday

…because you know us bloggers and our alliteration… Happy Friday! Every day this week has been kind of a Friday for me, so it’s pretty strange to be excited about the weekend. All this time off is relaxing, but I have idle hands and I feel like there’s so much I should be doing. I heard a great quote from one of the trainers at LA Fitness a few days ago: Eat for who you want to be. Drink for who you are. The first part is self-explanatory. Eat the type of foods you would be eating if you were ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup: Cocoa Beach

Two days off in 4 days? Really? Yep! I had Friday off and I’m fortunate to have today off also, after working 11 days straight. This might just count as a weekend. On Friday, Tabatha and I decided to make it a beach day, because that’s just what you do on a winter day in Florida. I had never been to Cocoa Beach, and I heard it was the best (and closest) beach near Orlando, so I picked up Tabby around 11am and we headed out. On the drive there, it was a bright and sunny 75 degrees, but when ... Read More »

Progressive Tweet Up Recap

On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to attend the Progressive Tweet Up in Winter Park, presented by FLBLogCon. The event took places at 4 locations (which actually turned into 3) throughout scenic downtown Winter Park, a part of Orlando I hadn’t had the chance to explore yet. 1. Dexter’s The first meeting ground was Dexter’s of Winter Park, a casual yet classy restaurant with great energy and even better food. I only had a chance to sample their sweet potato chips, which were crispy and delicious, but everyone who’d eaten there encouraged me to come back. (Source @professorjosh) I met da ... Read More »

WIAW: Trader Joe’s and Christmas Dinner

Happy Holidays! I hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays so far and is looking to forward to ringing in the New Year next week. I’ve had a great time and I wanted to share some of my recent foods and festivities. Last weekend, I visited Gainesville to work on packing and cleaning the old apartment, since the big move is this weekend. I hardly put a dent in it, but I did get to visit the recently opened Trader Joe’s in Butler Plaza. I’ve been bouncing up and down at the idea of going since I heard we were ... Read More »

What I’ve Been Up To

Wow! It’s been almost a week since I last posted. I haven’t taken this long of a hiatus since I began blogging. Lots of typing, not so many pictures in this one. Please bear with me. 🙂 First, and most importantly, Troy moved down here and got a job at LA Fitness. I’m so excited that he’s working at the club I spend so much time at already. It’s pretty awesome dating someone who works at a gym because we get to spend so much more time together. Whether he’s working and I’m working out, or we’re both working out, ... Read More »

Altamonte is Fitness Found

Dear FitFluential, I totally got my title from you. Or, as we like to say in the blogger community, I was inspired. In all seriousness, Altamonte Springs is a health and fitness mecca. In my last post, I said there were at least a dozen gyms around here. In reality, it’s probably much more. Between all the Groupons and Living Socials offering amazing daily deals on any type of exercise you could imagine, from TRX to stand up paddleboarding, and the health food stores and vitamin shops on every corner, it has to be impossible to stay UNhealthy living here. It’s ... Read More »

Meanwhile, in Orlando…

Hi there! I’ve been AWOL for a while, and with good reason. There’s been so much going on that the blog has kind of taken a back seat, and I apologize for that. For those of you still reading and awaiting my news, I sincerely thank you. If you follow my Twitter, you may have picked up on a few hints here and there regarding Orlando. Well, it’s official! I’m moving to Orlando! I was offered a job last week and asked to started training immediately, so I sit here, typing this from the Hilton at Altamonte Springs. I’m here ... Read More »
