Happy Thursday!
It’s only two days till the Central Florida Bloggers Conference and I can’t be more excited. If you haven’t already, check out my posts in support of the Valencia Foundation and the Greater Orlando Heart Walk that I wrote as part of the conference’s Blogging for Good program.
I missed WIAW yesterday since I was running around trying to tie up loose ends before I leave for Orlando. I’m heading out Friday evening to crash at a friend’s house so I’ll be well-rested for the conference and won’t have to drive down there at the crack of dawn. I still have to pack, and get my car ready, and get an outfit. (What do people wear to these things anyway?)
Yesterday I made some Protein Poppers to take on the road, and this turned out to be the best batch ever.
I didn’t have time to wait for them to cool before I rolled them, which ended up being a good thing. They were so much easier to roll!
I also omitted the coconut this time, and I was running low on oatmeal, so decreasing the dry ingredients made them stick together magnificently.
I’m also really excited that I’ll have some of these Drink Chia drinks to take on my trip. I got a sample of 4 different flavors on Tuesday and so far I’ve tried the Mango Tangerine flavor.
It’s just the right amount of sweet, with a hint of tartness and citrusy flavor. If you’ve ever had chia seeds in yogurt or oatmeal, you know they fluff up and take on a jelly-like consistency.
If you sip this slowly, you can kind of feel the jelly-like seeds pass along your tongue, but if you gulp it, it just tastes like a yummy sports drink. At only 40 calories and 4g of sugar per bottle, this did a great job of filling me up. I drank it a few hours before my run and felt more energized and hydrated than I would from just drinking water. Plus, it’s got a ton of Omega-3s and antioxidants that you can’t get this easily anywhere else.
For something so healthy, I’m pleasantly surprised at how good this tastes and I can’t wait to try the rest of the flavors. What’s really awesome is that it’s right in line with my healthy eating habits. I know what every ingredient is, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking to add a superfood to their diets.
Between the protein poppers and Drink Chia, I’d say I have a solid arsenal of road trip snacks. Throw in a KIND bar or two, and I’m all set to go.
Disclaimer: I was sent a free sample of Drink Chia products to try, but was not compensated for this review in any other way. All opinions are wholly my own.
I’m wondering…
What’s your favorite road trip snack?
I recently discovered KIND bars, so they’re at the top of my list. I also used to love the 2/$1 hot peanuts and sunflower seeds from gas stations.
