I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend! Mine is going great so far, but I’m only halfway through Saturday and already thoroughly exhausted.
Troy and I had fun at his birthday dinner last night, and did the whole cake and candles thing when we got home. I was racking my brain all day yesterday thinking of a dessert to get and I finally decided on Carvel ice cream cake because who doesn’t love ice cream cake? Doesn’t that look amazing? Well, it was. It brought me back to the days of elementary school and kids’ birthday parties, when we didn’t have to watch our weight or worry about our diets. Now that I’ve eaten it for two days in a row, I can’t wait till it’s gone so it can stop staring at me every time I open the freezer, screaming “Eat me!”
To counteract all my guilt from eating so badly the last few days, I did two rounds of an intense cardio and strength circuit at the gym today. I call it the “2 x 20 circuit” for the back-and-forth between cardio equipment and bodyweight exercises. Do 20 reps of legs, 20 reps of abs, 20 reps of arms, then 2 minutes of cardio for 3 rounds. Today I did this circuit twice, running at a 6.0 on the treadmill and finished with a total 1.2 miles and 360 reps of strength.
If you don’t have access to a gym or a treadmill, set a timer for two minutes and alternate between your favorite cardio exercises like jumping jacks, burpees, high knees, jump rope, etc. Also, check out this post on tabata training for more exercise ideas.
After this workout, I was pretty beat. I did take 10 days off to recover from my wisdom teeth surgery and this is my first week back, so my gauge of an intense workout may be a little off, but I promise that you’ll be breaking a sweat afterwards. At the very least, I know that it will make you feel better about a cheat day.
I’m wondering…
What do you like to eat when you cheat? What are your guilty pleasures and what’s your favorite way to burn off the calories?
