No Ifs, Ands or Butts

Did you take the Don’t Be a Turkey challenge and do a cleanse or detox after Thanksgiving weekend? I’d love to hear what your thoughts were and find out if you saw any benefit. Today’s your last chance to leave a comment here for a chance to win a healthy goodie bag! —————————————————————————– If you’re been keeping up with my newly rediscovered fitness drive, I’ve been talking a lot about all the advice Whitney has been giving me, and if you’re lost about who she is or what role she plays in my life, here’s the breakdown. Whitney is my ... Read More »

WIAW: 2-Day Cleanse and Supplements

If you took the Don’t Be A Turkey challenge, congratulations! You made it! I got through the 2 day cleanse with only a teeny bitty bit of cheating. I ate some Wasa crackers with my lunches both days since I’ve been so sick and needed the extra nutrients. The 2 day cleanse definitely works as promised with helping you feel lighter and more energized. I woke up this morning surprisingly deflated and feeling less bloated and heavy than I have since before Thanksgiving. For those of you that took the challenge, how did you do? Did it help you feel ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup: Thanksgiving in Miami

Hey there! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! I’m glad I got to see friends and family that I hadn’t seen in a while. I hadn’t realized how much I missed everyone, since I’d been so distracted by my new city.  When it came time to leave, I realized I really didn’t want to go. On Friday afternoon, I met up with Troy at the gym and killed it on leg day. After, we went to dinner at Ale House, and it was nice just to catch up and see a familiar face. I spent  all weekend eating leftovers, so getting in as much ... Read More »

Don’t Be A Turkey Day

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! Housekeeping first: Cookies are EVIL. No, not the tasty, chewy type. The Internet browser type. I just got wind that my banner and a few other images on the blog haven’t been working, so my apologies. It should be all taken care of now. Wednesday we had a pot luck at work and I made a delicious green bean casserole, and yesterday I had a spectacular dinner with my family. Instead of rehashing Thanksgiving and dinner and the drive down to Miami, I want to do something different. I’m having a great time ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup: Back to Basics

Happy Monday! And the only reason this Monday is a happy one is that it marks the start of a 3-day work week. This weekend was all about starting fresh for me. A little while ago, Whitney told me she was going to start training for a bikini competition, and she’s inspired me to push further with my fitness goals. I’m pretty content with where I am now, but I know I have a long way to go to catch up to her and reach my own goals. Last week, Whitney shared with me some of her diet dos and ... Read More »

Bikes, Bragg’s and Blogs

Woo! Friday! I really miss the days of going to school two times a week for 8 hours a day, getting all my classes out of the way, and treating every day like it was Friday. When did I grow up? That’s enough twenty-something ramblings for today. I have something really exciting to tell you. I got a bike! I mentioned on my 25 Things Before 25 list that I would get another bike, but this isn’t exactly what I had in mind. Still, two wheels are better than four, right? It’s an awesome Diamondback Vital 2LX hybrid women’s bike ... Read More »

Fitness: You’re Doing It Wrong

As part of my LA Fitness membership, I received one free personal training session. I went in on Tuesday thinking they were just trying to sell me a training package (which they were), but I came out feeling enlightened and very humbled. My trainer, Keith, and I sat down and he asked me a series of questions about my exercise, diet, and sleep habits.  I felt comfortable with him right away, and he trains figure and bikini competitors, so he understood exactly the type of shape I want to be in. I described to him what I eat and how ... Read More »

DeadX Deadlift Shinguard

I hope you all had a great weekend! I’m finally getting back into a routine and starting to make time for fitness and blogging. It’s been harder to adjust to the new city and new job than I expected, and unfortunately my blog has suffered the most. But I’m getting there, so thank you for sticking with me! I’ve been spending a lot of time at LA Fitness lately, which is awesome and so convenient. It’s probably ¼ mile from my house, and I live on the side of town where gyms don’t get packed at 5:30pm on weekdays. I’ve ... Read More »

Altamonte is Fitness Found

Dear FitFluential, I totally got my title from you. Or, as we like to say in the blogger community, I was inspired. In all seriousness, Altamonte Springs is a health and fitness mecca. In my last post, I said there were at least a dozen gyms around here. In reality, it’s probably much more. Between all the Groupons and Living Socials offering amazing daily deals on any type of exercise you could imagine, from TRX to stand up paddleboarding, and the health food stores and vitamin shops on every corner, it has to be impossible to stay UNhealthy living here. It’s ... Read More »

Playing Catch-Up

Hey there! I hope you had a great weekend! I went back to Gainesville, packed a few more things I couldn’t bring with me last week and hung out with Troy and a few friends. It just so happened to be Halloween, Florida-Georgia, and The Fest weekend all at once, but I had so many things to catch up on that I didn’t really enjoy any of the festivities. I’ve been AWOL, so let me catch you up quickly. Last Sunday, I officially moved into my new place in Altamonte Springs, a city just outside of Orlando. It’s a really ... Read More »
