I’m getting the ball rolling a little late on What I Ate Wednesday this week, but better late than never, right? I skipped it last week because I’ve been forgetting to take pictures of my food, but I had some goodies this week, and they’re mostly related to WIAW’s theme of falling into good habits. Spinach, arugula, and green leaf lettuce salad, with avocado, apples, radishes, tomatoes, scallions, and feta cheese. Said salad with stuffed clams and a side of steamed broccoli and carrots topped with Parmesan cheese. Whole wheat couscous with red peppers, topped with Pirate’s Gold shrimp, scallions, ... CFLBlogCon Recap #3

Good morning! It’s a gloomy, rainy day here in Gainesville, but I’m happy we’re getting some rain. Hopefully it’ll start to cool down soon! I know I left you hanging with my Central Florida Bloggers Conference recap, and I promise I’ll deliver! First, head on over to Part 1 and Part 2 if you haven’t read them yet. Yesterday I left off with Jeanette Scott from J’s Everyday Fashion‘s presentation on 6 ways to makeover your blog with Facebook. Personally, I never put too much thought into Facebook promotions. I’ve had an “If you build it, they will come” mentality ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup: CFLBlogCon Recap #1

As promised, my Weekend Wrapup today will focus on the Central Florida Bloggers Conference, and I have to split this up into two (or three) posts. I know many of you are fellow bloggers, and I want to share a lot of what I learned with you, rather than just posting a ton of pictures. I got home from CFLBlogCon Saturday night with a notebook full of notes and a head full of ideas. The conference itself was great, but it was so fast-paced and full of information that I was a little overwhelmed by sorting through it all. After ... Read More »

CFLBlogCon or Bust!

Happy Thursday! It’s only two days till the Central Florida Bloggers Conference and I can’t be more excited. If you haven’t already, check out my posts in support of  the Valencia Foundation and the Greater Orlando Heart Walk that I wrote as part of the conference’s Blogging for Good program. I missed WIAW yesterday since I was running around trying to tie up loose ends before I leave for Orlando. I’m heading out Friday evening to crash at a friend’s house so I’ll be well-rested for the conference and won’t have to drive down there at the crack of dawn. ... Read More »

5K: Getting There

There are only 17 days left till the Gainesville Beer Run 5K! I was looking at my calendar yesterday, and up until now I thought I’d be able to complete the full Couch to 5K 8-week plan. Then I realized I’d only be starting week 8 the day of the race, so now it’s more important than ever that I don’t miss a day. Yesterday I completed day 3 of week 5. I hadn’t run at all since Thursday, so I thought this would be a tough one. 5 minutes walking warmup 20 minutes (or 2 miles) running 5 minutes ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup: Miami Trip

Hey, there! I hope you had a great, relaxing weekend! I went to Miami on Friday and got back yesterday afternoon. Weekend trips to Miami tend to be really stressful for me because it’s a 5-hour drive down as soon as I’m off work Friday, then a Saturday crammed full of activities, then another 5-hour drive back Sunday. This time wasn’t so bad, but I’m pretty exhausted from all the driving and running around. We got in Friday night and I had a late dinner with my parents, and hung out with my mom, showing her how to do things ... Read More »

ENERGYbits of Goodness

Last week, I received a small sample of ENERGYbits and was asked by the company to try them out and review them. I was really excited for these because they promised to give me everything I needed for a workout: energy, endurance and focus. As someone who’s weaned herself off caffeine and refuses to touch sports drinks or funky supplements, I was immediately interested. My sample included a metal tin with about 50-60 bits, some informational reading, a press release, the founder’s bio, and some postcards complete with man candy. All factual information about ENERGYbits, scans and photos in this ... Read More »

Labor Day Weekend Wrapup

Oh man! This 3-day weekend was a much-needed one. Every Sunday, I always have this feeling of needing just one more day to recoup after a long week, and today I finally feel like I’m caught up. And the 2nd best thing about a long weekend? The next week always seems so short! So what did I do with my 3 days off? Saturday I woke up uncharacteristically early at 8AM for a bright and early run. It took a lot for me not to go back to bed, and I was a little more motivated because I wanted to ... Read More »

Finally Friday!

Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but this week has gone by so slow. Maybe it was the fact that my birthday celebration was on a Tuesday, which made the rest of the week seem like it should’ve been a weekend. Who knows? At least I’m only a few hours away from a well-deserved 3-day weekend! I have no general theme today except to catch you up on what’s been happening this week. Football is Here! Tomorrow is the first Gator game of the season and I’m so stoked! Last year I was so busy with starting a new ... Read More »
