Super Sickly

Good morning! Not really good for me, seeing as I’m absurdly sick after raving to everyone I know a few weeks ago about how healthy I am and how I never get sick.

I take it back! I do get sick! I didn’t mean to tempt some high power to prove me wrong. Since Tuesday, I’ve been sniffly, feverish, nauseous, had no appetite, have a sore throat and swollen lymph nodes, a cough, achy neck and back, and a headache. I think that covers all the symptoms.

I tried to convince myself it was just allergies or a cold, but if it walks like a duck, acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is probably… the flu.

For amusement’s sake, I WebMD’ed my symptoms, and while it might be something minor like bronchitis, there’s a high likelihood that I have Anthrax, but only in the inhaled variety.

I’ve been doing everything homeopathically possible to get better, since I’m not big on doctors or drugs. I’ve been using:

  • Echinacea
  • Zinc
  • Sea salt rinses
  • Vitamin C
  • Chicken soup
  • Vitamin B12 Complex

So far, it seems like my illness is moving along quicker than normal, so maybe all the healthy stuff is helping my body fight it off.

I don’t get the annual flu shot, so I’m hoping this really is the flu and that I just breeze right through it. Until then, I get to sit at home and go on Pinterest, and complain about missing the gym for 3 days straight.

At least I’ve been somewhat productive with the blog. Since I’m no longer in Gainesville, it doesn’t make sense for me to have only a Guide to Gainesville. I added a City Guides section and a Greater Orlando page for the cool new places I’ll be visiting here.

I’m wondering…

What are some homeopathic remedies that you’ve tried to help you get over an illness?

About youmefit

I am a college student that is trying to stay physically fit and eat healthy. We all know how hard this is, so I am trying to post some tips, and get some discussions started so we can all learn from each other.

  1. You know what, I bet it is anthrax.
    lol get better soon!

  2. Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile

Ahhh I hope you feel better! I hate being sick. I always take zinc when I feel sickness coming on – it usually helps! Then I take some emergen-c or something and just rest. Lots of fluids and medicine.

    • Thanks Brittany! I think zinc really does help speed up the process. I’m trying to stay hydrated and nap as much as possible. Seems to be helping!

  3. Joanna @ Running Places

Unfortunately, it does sound like you have flu 🙁 !
    See here–

You’re not alone though, it’s supposedly a bad flu season already. I know it’s not homeopathic, but Theraflu is my go-to. I also pinned this, but haven’t tried it yet:

    Feel better!

    • Thank you! That remedy looks awesome! I wish I had seen this before I went to store, or I would’ve picked up some ginger, since that’s the only thing I’m missing. I’m definitely trying this next time I get sick (hopefully not anytime soon).

Fortunately, my concoction of herbs and whatnots seems to be working because it seems to be running its course fairly quickly. Cheers for my immune system!

  4. Hope you feel better soon. xxx
I like to use lemon juice in hot water with a teaspoon of maple syrup for the sore throat/sniffles.
and that ecard is sooo funny hehehe

  5. Me too! Last Friday I told my coworkers “I don’t know why you’re all so sick. Workout some more. I never get sick. Blah. Blah. Blah”

Two days ago…bam. Super sick. 🙁

    I think it was karma.
