Long Distance Gym Buddies and Our Quest for Abs

My best friend Whitney lives in Colorado. That’s 1,705 miles away. A 28-hour drive. 4 hours by plane. Yet she’s my biggest motivator to stay healthy and fit. Over the years, our communication has came and went, but around February of this year, after a long phone catchup session, we rekindled our friendship over fitness. Apparently something had sparked a flame in both of us to get off our butts and do something about our less than mediocre bodies. We began texting each other recipes, sending each other photos of what we had eaten that day, sharing our workout plans, ... Read More »

The Average Girl’s Guide to Running

I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was low-key and relaxing. I actually ate healthier and exercised more than I normally would, probably because all my friends are out of town. This post isn’t really a guide to running, since I’m no expert. It should be called “The Inexperienced Novice Clumsy Girl’s Guide to Stumbling and Shin Splints.” But I like to give myself more credit. On Friday, I completed an Insanity workout and ran two interval miles on the treadmill in 22:50. I did the first mile in 11:09 and pushed myself to complete one more. I ... Read More »

Getting Fitter Every Day

Happy New Year! I wish you and your family a wonderful 2013 filled with health, happiness, friendship and success! In this post, I want to share some news and recap the fitness progress I made in 2012. This year is off to a great start for me, as I’m officially an employee of the best health clubs in the country, LA Fitness! I remember when the first one was built near my house in Miami, I thought of it as a prestigious, exclusive, and luxurious fitness center. Now I’m proud to be a part of a company so committed to ... Hit My First 5K Goal Time

amazing abs workout

How funny is it that I spent all day yesterday thinking it was Wednesday? I posted WIAW thinking I was totally ahead of the game, then went for my Tuesday run. Yep. THAT kinda week. Yesterday I hit my goal of running 5K in under 35 minutes! The best part of reaching a goal is setting new ones. The 35-minute time was just my primary goal for my first month of 5K training. I have one more workout left in week 3 of Couch to 5K and my ultimate goal is to run the race in under 30 minutes on ... Read More »

Smoothies, Cantinas & Exercise Balls!

It’s only 2:30 and it’s already been an eventful day of ups and downs. This morning I could barely wake up since I got such terrible sleep last night. I’ve had this pain in my left shoulder, mid-trapezius area for a few months that comes and goes. I always chalked it up to sitting improperly at work, but last night it came and stayed all night.  I finally crawled out of bed with no time to squeeze in a workout, even though I promised myself I’d make up for not doing anything yesterday. Since I didn’t have time to make ... Read More »

How To: 300 Abs, The Sequel

I’m already sore and beat from Insanity and I’ve only been doing it for two days! I can already tell it’s going to be an intense series and I can’t wait to see my body in 60 days. That’s all I’ll say about Insanity, since I’m sure you’ll be bored hearing about it for the next two months. I did, however, use some of the moves I learned yesterday to create the next ab routine in the 300 Reps for Perfect Abs series. This one is more of a circuit and utilizes a lot more cardio moves, as opposed to ... Read More »

How To: 300 Reps for Perfect Abs

I’ve had a few questions regarding the 300 Reps for Perfect Abs workout that I posted recently, which gave me a great idea for setting up my site (Thanks, Lori!). It’s unfair for me to assume that everyone knows how to do all the exercises in my workouts, so I’ll post a corresponding page with YouTube videos or photos of how to do each exercise correctly (or how I like to do them.) I’ll do it this way until I have time and a good camera person to help me go back and record each workout myself. Perfect Abs   ... Read More »
