Boots, Boats, But No Beach

Monday is off to a slow start after another fun, yet exhausting weekend. Whitney’s on her way back to Colorado in a few hours, and hopefully I’ll be making the trip to see her soon. I need to make an effort to post more throughout the weekend, because come Monday, I have all these ideas that I have no idea how to organize. Friday after work I scheduled a haircut, and was pretty unsure as to what I wanted until the very last minute. Actually, I’m still not sure, but here’s what I ended up with: It’s a lot shorter ... WIAW: Falling Into Good Habits

I’m really excited about the new What I Ate Wednesday theme, “Fall into good habits.” Now that my first race is only three weeks away, I’m starting to fall back into better habits that I hadn’t been doing a good job of maintaining. My last grocery trip consisted of almost only fruits, veggies, and healthy grains, so I’ve been surviving off good food this week and loving the benefits. Aside from the cheese and dairy (which I’m slowly cutting out), I think I’m on the right track. This week’s WIAW for me is all about staying on the path to ... Read More »

The Amazing Hash Brown Stack

I know it’s only Thursday, but I’m already excited for the weekend. Saturday night and Sunday I’m going to Cocoa Beach with Whitney and some of her friends. It’s been a year since I’ve seen the beach! So in all my excitement and because I’ll probably be AWOL again this weekend, I’d like to preemptively share a recipe for one of my favorite, easiest weekend breakfast ideas: the amazing hash brown stack. I love to make big breakfasts on the weekends. My mom got me started on this, since we only get two days a week to sit down with ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup: Gone to Gainesville

Good morning! I know I’m a day late for this post, but it feels like a case of the Mondays, so that makes it ok, right? I sort of started my weekend on Thursday, when I was feeling a little restless and decided to get a haircut after work. It’s been so hard for me to commit to a new stylist after having the same person cut my hair in Gainesville for years, plus I experienced a bit of sticker shock after moving to a bigger city.  A coworker recommended a new salon, so I took the plunge and booked ... Weekend Wrapup: Good Food & Fitness

Do you ever wake up with that confused feeling on Monday morning trying to figure out if it’s still the weekend or if you have to go to work? I definitely did this morning. Fortunately, I had a satisfying, relaxing weekend to hold me over until next Friday. Friday After work, Troy and I did this 550 Killer Reps workout from BodyRock. I love the old BodyRock workouts where they only use body weight and hadn’t started using equipment like sand bags and bars yet. My time was around 28 minutes, but I didn’t do all 50 walkover pushups. I did ... Read More »

Labor Day Weekend Wrapup

Oh man! This 3-day weekend was a much-needed one. Every Sunday, I always have this feeling of needing just one more day to recoup after a long week, and today I finally feel like I’m caught up. And the 2nd best thing about a long weekend? The next week always seems so short! So what did I do with my 3 days off? Saturday I woke up uncharacteristically early at 8AM for a bright and early run. It took a lot for me not to go back to bed, and I was a little more motivated because I wanted to ... Read More »

WIAW: Birthday Edition

Yesterday was my birthday, and I fell off the health food wagon and ate some tastiness that I’ll be working off the rest of the week. (So worth it!) Monday night, I prepared a bowl of overnight oats. Into the bowl went: 1/3 cup Chobani plain non-fat Greek yogurt 1/3 cup rolled oats 1/3 cup almond milk 1/2 banana, chopped sprinkle of chia seeds I set out some frozen strawberries and peaches to defrost overnight and topped my oats with them in the morning. When I got to work, a yummy frosty cupcake was waiting for me at my desk, ... Read More »

Weekend Wrapup

Hey there! I hope you’re having a great weekend so far! I know the weekend’s not over yet, but it’s been pretty eventful so far and there’s a storm rolling in, so no better time than now to get you all caught up. It was absolutely gorgeous out yesterday, so Troy and I decided to hit the gym and the pool. As we were leaving, Troy noticed a frog just chillin’ on our wall. No idea how it got in, but we had to capture it. Troy gently put a plastic container on it and I slid the little fellow ... Read More »

Smoothies, Cantinas & Exercise Balls!

It’s only 2:30 and it’s already been an eventful day of ups and downs. This morning I could barely wake up since I got such terrible sleep last night. I’ve had this pain in my left shoulder, mid-trapezius area for a few months that comes and goes. I always chalked it up to sitting improperly at work, but last night it came and stayed all night.  I finally crawled out of bed with no time to squeeze in a workout, even though I promised myself I’d make up for not doing anything yesterday. Since I didn’t have time to make ... Read More »

How To: 300 Abs, The Sequel

I’m already sore and beat from Insanity and I’ve only been doing it for two days! I can already tell it’s going to be an intense series and I can’t wait to see my body in 60 days. That’s all I’ll say about Insanity, since I’m sure you’ll be bored hearing about it for the next two months. I did, however, use some of the moves I learned yesterday to create the next ab routine in the 300 Reps for Perfect Abs series. This one is more of a circuit and utilizes a lot more cardio moves, as opposed to ... Read More »
