What I’ve Been Up To

Wow! It’s been almost a week since I last posted. I haven’t taken this long of a hiatus since I began blogging. Lots of typing, not so many pictures in this one. Please bear with me. 🙂

First, and most importantly, Troy moved down here and got a job at LA Fitness. I’m so excited that he’s working at the club I spend so much time at already.

It’s pretty awesome dating someone who works at a gym because we get to spend so much more time together. Whether he’s working and I’m working out, or we’re both working out, we’ve been getting a lot more face time lately.

It also means I’ve been spending a lot of time at the gym, which isn’t a bad thing. Since I got over my cold last Friday, I’ve been trying to get back to the level of fitness I’m accustomed to. It hasn’t been easy after two back-to-back illnesses, but I’m working harder than I ever have to make it happen.

I’m sticking to my workout plan and so far, it seems to be paying off. I usually have a hard time sticking to it on weekends, but this one was surprisingly productive.

On Saturday, Troy and I went to the gym and I worked chest and shoulders, then did 30 minutes of HIIT cardio. I might’ve undone some good when we went to Liam Fitzpatrick’s that evening, but it was completely worth it.

Liam Fitzpatricks is an upscale Irish bar and grill that features dueling pianos on certain nights. Troy and I were lucky enough to catch the show, and enjoyed a much-needed relaxing night.

The music, food, drinks, and energy of the bar were the combination for a perfect night. We ordered a few drinks and had some delicious appetizers, crispy chicken tenders and their signature nachos made with thick, baked potato crisps instead of tortilla chips, layered with cheeses, bacon, onions and jalapenos.

We ate, drank, and sang along to every song the pianists played, from Don’t Stop Believing to Baby Got Back. It was a great time at a fantastic place to kick back, relax, and wave good bye to the worries of the week.

Not only did we fall in love with Liam Fitzpatrick’s, but we absolutely adored the area it was in. We saw at least 3 other bars and restaurants we wanted to try, so it seems like we found our new date night spot.

On Sunday, I went to an early yoga class, which helped me work out all the kinks from lifting, followed by 30 interval minutes on the treadmill. When I got home, I was still in a productive mood, so I gave Jenna the Jetta a sponge bath and decided to clean her home.

When I first started, our garage could barely house my shiny little sedan, but when I finished an hour later, you could park two cars and a bike or two in it. Not bad for a lazy Sunday afternoon!

Speaking of lazy, this whole week has been kind of slow so far. Why, you ask? Because I decided that after a long time of being dissatisfied with the company I was working for, I needed to leave the terrible situation I was in.

I won’t go into detail, but I can say that I’m happy and relieved, and I’m completely open to the new opportunities I know this will bring. I know it sounds crazy, especially “in this economy,” but I know it’s the right thing for me. It was a hard decision, but I feel like a better, stronger person because of it.

I’m spending my days now looking for work and working out and keeping my fingers crossed that everything falls into place for me.

I’m wondering…

What have YOU been up to? Big plans for the holidays?
